Emma Forbes, Aquaculture Specialist

Emma Forbes joined Triton Aquatic Corporation in December 2016, bringing three years of aquaculture experience from the Oceanic Institute as a lead researcher on the first successful aquaculture of the yellow tang Zebrasoma flavescens. Her research focused on feeding strategies for the delicate larval stages of marine ornamentals, including the establishment of non-pathogenic bacteria within the live feeds and guts of larval fish to improve survival through the first two weeks post hatch. Ms. Forbes revised spawning and rearing protocols for increased efficiency, updated feeding regime to maximize broodstock egg production while maintaining high quality eggs for moi (Pacific Threadfin), striped mullet (Mugil cephalus), ocellaris clownfish, tomato clownfish, and flame angelfish (Centropyge loricula). Ms. Forbes is the Triton Aquatic’s aquaculture specialist for research and technology. She is the primary scientific author for our documents and works directly with federal agencies. She has extensive experience with environmental field sampling and surveying, technical report writing and project planning. Ms. Forbes is HAZWOPER certified, an advanced open water diver, proficient in data analysis and has an extensive knowledge of marine resources around the Pacific Island Region. Ms. Forbes has an M.S. in marine science from Hawaii Pacific University, and a B.S. in Science from Old Dominion University.
